Umara and Belodir: [link]

This doll has a lot of interesting points, so I decided to post a deviation of her on her own. ^_^; (Hopefully Belodir won't mind!) Draenei and Night Elves are my favorite WoW races, and I'd been waiting for a chance to tackle a Draenei especially, and here she is, :iconcamilluscactus:'s mage commission, Umara!

This is probably the most ambitious body pattern I've worked out to date. Making a female-looking female is always a challenge, let alone ones with inhuman body features. Getting her horns to curl the way I wanted for example let me try out a technique I read about here on DA of molding a desired form from newspaper, covering it with tape, and then cutting the tape layer to make a pattern. It worked great! Thanks to whomever posted that-- I think maybe it was :icongoiku:..?

Her legs are probably what I am most proud of though...my housemates can probably attest I was more gleeful than was entirely dignified when I first stuffed her and saw how they came out. Her clothes I ended up having to redo over and over, but her legs came out just how I had pictured the first time, and it was delightful. ^_^;; I also like how the satin stitch effect for her cleft hooves worked out. Here's a WIP picture that shows her legs without the pants: [link]

Her clothes are removable since she comes with an extra outfit, here: [link] which was a new feature to me, and unlike Belodir hers are a lot more form-fitting, which made them especially challenging. I redid pretty much every garment I made for her between two and five times. >.>; I also applied multiple fastening techniques, from velcro to snaps to eyehooks. So far I think I favor the velcro since it's more flexible and can be attached more securely, and it didn't bulk up the doll the way I was worried it would. Even so I don't think I'd use it on materials that stuck to it too much.

She is roughly 15" tall and made from fleece. The clothes pictured are ponte roma and other knits, with her boots and vest made of fleece. Her gold bands on her tail and ear dangles are pleather ribbon. Her face is iron on transfer colored with Copic markers.

Aw, thank you so much! ^_^; I feel like I still have a long way to go with plushifying complex shapes, but I was pretty happy with her.
