Orsino Plushie--Dragon Age 2 by Threnodi Orsino Plushie--Dragon Age 2 by Threnodi
Orsino, First Enchanter of Kirkwall and commission for :iconisteillia: who was terribly patient with me through December. He's got a voice box allowing him to say "Have confidence, Knight Commander" : )

Orsino, being an older fellow has some features of interest-- like Cain he has lines on his face, though his are smile/frown lines around his mouth as opposed to cheekbone highlights-- Orsino also has a nose! I wanted to give it a try, though I was worried any sort of nose would just look odd on a plushie, but I really like how it came out. I intend to add nose lines in future to older or more realistic dolls I think ^_^

Orsino also has a receding hairline-- I think I might do it a bit differently if I do such hair again, but I really liked playing around with a higher forehead and that widow's peak. Adding all the character to this doll made him very enjoyable to work on. ^_^

His clothes though-- agh his clothes. I've done things like it in the past, nothing new, nothing terribly difficult I thought-- I guess the cowl was new, but... every piece he is wearing I remade two or three times each except his gloves and the little red and yellow sash in front. Every single other piece... and he's wearing about four layers in some places...x_x;;; his clothes just did not want to cooperate! Despite that I really like how he came out and I'm glad I got the opportunity to work on him. : )

Orsino is about 14-15" tall and made of suedecloth with fleece hair and clothing. His clothing is accented with gold ribbon, pleather, jewelry hoops and fabric paint. His face is iron on transfer colored with copic marker.

Aw, I was really happy with him, my first with a nose! ; ) As to commissions, I do now and again, yes! I just took on a batch and I tend to be slow since I have a couple day jobs, but if you're interested, I always post open slots in my journal here and my basic FAQ is here: [link] thanks for looking!

Can I send you reference images and perhaps I can get a quote? I am not certain whether he will fall under highly detail or low detail doll?

This is awesome news! I will ask for one in the future (as soon as I get the money). I was looking if anyone could do a Thane Krios plushie. He is my favorite character in the Mass Effect universe.

XDD He does!! One of my buddies was amused/delighted with him and held him hostage for almost three hours XDD He's sitting on the back of one of my dragon plushies right now, looking very smug. <33

He looks amazing. I don't know about other people, but I definitely think he needed a nose to look right. Without it his face wouldn't be--grounded? That probably doesn't make any sense. Anyway, since he's clearly an older character, his nose would be larger than when he was younger, and leaving him without a nose might have made him look cute in a way that didn't fit as well with the frown lines and receding hair.

The details on the clothes are really impressive. It's hard to work that much into something that size, and all the gold trim looks really sharp.

Heheh, it's funny because I always angst about the details I leave out-- in the actual game version Orsino has these alternating bands of yellow and red each lined with gold on his chest piece, and there's more gold edging around the sash hanging in the middle and gold edging on -top- of the gold belts and so forth...it's pretty crazy. But we talked it over and agreed what sort of detail was feasable before starting, and I think with the gold against the blue where it's highest contrast it came out well-- I'm glad it looks good to others too. ^_^
Thank you for the feedback on his face as well--I felt pretty happy with it when it was done. ^_^ I was thinking of Medic a bit once he was finished thinking something similar might work well for him-- sort of an older character style...though Orsino has some elven touches all his own.

I got him today and he's SO adorable! He's much softer than I thought he'd be, and larger, too! I have been grinning like an idiot and hugging him nonstop.

Thank you SO much. He is so well made, and I LOVE him <3333

Aww! I'm so glad to hear it! Yeah, 14" is more doll to hug than some people expect, and I really try to pick fabrics that are cuddly whenever I can. I'm so glad you're happy with him!!! ^_^;

I am VERY happy with him- I actually was so pleased with how he came out, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for when you open commissions again. I had a very silly yet awesome idea that I think you can pull off beautifully, given your craftsmanship and your previous works!

The length of his face also made it work really well I think. He has a distinct face, and it came out very well.

Aw thank you! I did try to give him a fairly tall face and pointed chin, but I think the receding hairline just added to it-- I appreciate the comment!

Gah, you and your gold ribbon detailing. It always looks so awesome. :) I love his face. I'm with you, I've always thought noses would look funny, but I like what you did with his.

Aw, thank you! I was going to be all fancy and sew down the gold ribbon this time, and the first vest I did it looked really sharp, but I'd layered it wrong and some ends were showing so I bought more ribbon and did it again-- but the new ribbon wasn't exactly the same kind and when I sewed over it it pulled ohrribly and inner thread was showing everywhere! >_<; I finally just did it with glue again on the third vest. Next time...next time...
I'm glad you like the nose. I guess it just takes the right kind of character to make it work alright...my attempts in the past I always discarded as looking strange... I think the face lines help it work.
