Japan from the manga/anime Hetalia! This is one of the first dolls I've really done a fair bit of painting detail on-- thanks to for recommending a good metallic fabric paint! I think the side view shows all the details best-- his collar, sleeve decoration and shoulder flaps. ^_^
Japan is 10" tall made of that swimsuit stuff that I still don't know the proper name of. His hair and clothes are blizzard fleece, his buttons are rather tight and a pain to operate but they do work! They are made from small brads. His face is mostly Copic marker on sticky cloth glued down since that skin material doesn't take the stick as well, and his mouth is painted on. The details on his clothes are also painted, some is fabric paint and some is acrylic mixed with fabric medium. : )
Just wondering cause i'm planning on making Japan and i'm looking for skin tones in fleece fabric so i can get it and make him. i'm a real Japan fangirl, do you think the salmon color would work or do i need to look at other light skin tones for him?
Salmon fleece? The fleece I've seen that looked skin tone I think was called camel? It works fairly well for dark haired dolls. : ) Salmon might be too pink for Japan though I don't know the color offhand. Do you have a link?
The best way to tell for me is to put some black over top of some of it to represent his hair, and see if you can imagine their face looking right with those colors around it. Some dye lots vary after all so it's hard for me to say remotely, but if it looks good to you then it will probably come out fine. : ) A similar tone worked well for me, that at least I can say!
