Soo I finally decided to try my hand at mochis. ^_^;; I ended up having to edit in Russia, so if anyone thinks he looks a bit odd, that's why, but he got sold so I couldn't pose him with the rest of them directly. : '(
I used to have these up in my Etsy Shop!
, but I think there are official ones now? If there's a nation you want that you can't otherwise get, let me know and I can post a listing there for you. : )
We have here Canada, America, England, Russia, Italy and Germany mochis! I realized after that I probably should have put ahoges on Italy and Canada (though Mochimerica never seems to have his in the mochitalia comics o.o?) But I'm not sure if I should use a thin piece of black or make them hair colored..? Hmm hmm maybe I'll make more later.
I puttered around with different sizes/ methods of attaching their faces and I think I like this better than the iron-on method. It makes me feel confident about them being machine washable for one, which is normally a fate I would never subject my dolls to, and they could stand up to rougher handling as well. Also it is good practice. >: )
In my self-taught adventures I have discovered what should probably have been obvious-- thick interfacing is a MUST when satin stitching on stretchy material. My machine went from getting stuck if I even looked at it funny when satin stitching to almost -never- getting stuck, and the design is just just so much flatter and cleaner to boot, so I will never never go back. Interfacing <3!
The mochis are made of fleece with appliqué facial features using other bits of fleece satin stitched down, and I gave them each a loop on top so they could be hung over car mirrors or what-have you. They're about 3" tall with a 4" diameter (Except Germany who is 4" x 4" of course ; ).
