Avengers Themed Scarves Group 1 by Threnodi Avengers Themed Scarves Group 1 by Threnodi
(Man working on these is making the fact that Avengers doesn't come out on DVD till late September a Very Sad Fact-- I keep wanting to watch it!)

Well a lot of updates since that first Cap scarf! Now the stripes are sewn together then sewn to the blue as well instead of applique, so no showing thread on that. Would it be proper to say they are quilted, I wonder? I'm not sure what the term is for piecing together a solid piece of cloth from different colors like that...
Also updated to some shiny new star fabric! The star is still applique, and I think it suits the star a lot better than the stripes. ^_^

Far left is a Hulk scarf--this one's extra long so when you wear it plain the purple hangs about the right level to simulate torn shorts. XD

Next over is Iron Man-- got overlaid areas of red and yellow for his suit and some shiny something-or-other layered over some blue fleece and applique'd to a circle-cut-out from the back, so it's a bit recessed to simulate Iron Man's core sunk in his chest.

On the far right is Loki, who was rather a challenge. I like the design, especially the zig-zags in the black, but the black over gold emblem + tassels + the zig-zags made it take notably longer than any of the others. Also The green, the gold and the black pleather are all hard to get/not available anymore, so it was a bit of a scramble to get it together before the weekend. @_@

Phew! In the end I think I'm happy with these guys. All double thick (or more in a few places) toasty soft blizzard fleece with some pleather accents.

Alas between day jobs and sewing marathons I still ran out of time before getting to Thor or the SHIELD folks. Got other things to prep/set up tomorrow. I guess we'll see what time permits after con and commissions, but these ones at least will be tagging along with me to Geek Girl Con. ; )

Is there any chance of you making the Loki Scarf from the Avengers movie, the one he is wearing when he is in 'mortal clothing' in Germany.

Hm, I stand corrected, it looks like it is possible to order a custom printed fabric of that pattern, but it's a lot more expensive per yard than getting cloth at the fabric store, especially if it was silk like his looks in the movie. Hrmm. o.o

I don't think it was silk, it looked to thick to be silk, I think it looked more like cotton. What site did you find for the fabric or was it the same as the site I found?

Yes yes, that's the site I saw too! Hmm you think? Well cotton would surely be cheaper, then I'd just have to figure how to do the tassels. A commercial scarf would probably be woven and dyed as one piece with the tassels being the ends of the actual scarf threads...to piece it together I would think it would have to be double thick with the tassels sewn into the hem...

Aw pity I though maybe you had found it for cheaper that that site, that seems to be allot of money for some fabric. That does seem to be the biggest issue, the tassels do seem to be the hardest, part, double the work. double thick would work though, for the tassels and would make it actually winter good, like warm and stuff.

Alas no.. -_-;; Just saw Avengers again yesterday and the circles looked a bit more hexagonal and the little dots sort of looked bluish, but yeah that pattern is super close.. and it's hard to even be sure if the differences I saw were real with him moving all the time. ;p
